Postgraduate Diploma in Indigenous Studies (PGDIS) is an advanced course for those who completed their graduate level degrees including BTh/BD/MDIV/ and equivalent degrees. It is a foundational course for students who are intending to pursue their PhD in Indigenous knowledge.

Rev. Thangminlun Vaiphei (BD, MTh)

Rev. Vaiphei serves as the Deputy Director of Ecumenical Christian Centre, Bangalore and currently, he is involved in the development of Sunday School Materials for KWS.

Rev. Mangminthang Haokip (BA, BD)

Rev. Haokip teaches at Discipleship Theological Seminary, Manipur and currently he too is involved in the development of Sunday School subjects.

Mr. Mangcha (BA, BD)

After his PGDIS graduation, Mangcha continues to develop indigenous art and music and also runs a school for indigenous community children.

Mr. T. Stephen (MA)

Stephen teaches in a school while he also works as a freelance youth worker.

Rev. Hencha Doungel (MTh)

Upon the completion of his PGDIS, Rev Doungel works as an indigenous community worker for Kuki Diaspora community in Delhi.

Rev Hemkhomang Haokip (MTh)

Rev Haokip currently serves as the Principal of Discipleship Theological Seminary and also writes contextual bible commentaries in Indigenous languages

Rev Heson Haokip (MTh)

Rev Haokip serves as one of the pastors of Kuki Baptist Convention looking after a pastorate area.

Ms Pineng (MA)

Pineng is a promising female scholar in the making. Currently, she is pursuing her 4yr BD programme.

Mr Seiboi (MA)

Seiboi is a linguist and his interest is to develop a common indigenous language for greater unification of the people.

Mr David (PhD)

David is pursuing his PhD studies in Humanities. He is also very keen in indigenous knowledge and a promising young indigenous thinker. His interest is in the issue of land and indigenous identity.

Mr Touthang (MTh)

Mr Touthang belongs to Seventh Day Adventist and yet he is very keen in indigenous knowledge. Being one of the few younger leaders in his church, he will be also a great influencer for indigenous wisdom in his church.

We were part of a community enriching Indigenous Knowledge. Every assignment given were in keeping in view the aim of enriching Indigenous Knowledge. The classes were taken by distinguished persons, from different parts of the world. So, we were always on the frontier of existing knowledge in their respective field. We were fortunate enough to see the wisdom in discovering more and more Indigenous knowledge related with environment and society. The ways to apply it to our present world scenario were also discussed. Overall, the classes were participative and challenges our thinking. I would recommend this course to anyone who wish to experience a slightly less ordinary ways of seeing the world.

The Post Graduate Diploma in Indigenous Studies (PGDIS) illuminates to the rich culture of indigenous knowledge and wisdom. With the advancement of Science & Technology, the alien culture is devouring the autochthonous one. In the whirlpool of identity crisis, the PGDIS will give you insight about the meaning and purpose of life. The PGDIS help me to understand the concept of God in the light of indigenous worldview. This really help and shaped my perspective to deal with life complicated issues I have experienced. The course gives me an opportunity to interact with fellow indigenous students with whom I engaged in the discourse of the lost valuable culture and traditional practices. The faculty members who are from different corners of the globe groomed my writing and presentation skills academically beautiful. The method of Khankho way of dealing one another throughout the course is one of the distinguishing features of the institute. Honestly speaking, BKI is the right place to dive in indigenous studies, especially the indigenous people of Northeast India. You will feel like a dog with two tails if you become one the BKIans.
